Westmorland County: the Acadians settled the area in 1700: William Francis Ganong identified the Mi'kmaq name for the River Memramcook as Amlamkook PO from 1845: in 1866 Memramcook was a farming and lumbering settlement with about 115 resident families, including 8 Goody, 9 Legere and 13 White (LeBlanc) families: in 1871 it had a population of approximately 200: in 1898 Memramcook was a station on the Intercolonial Railway and a community with 1 post office, 5 stores, 1 hotel and a population of 400: Memramcook was incorporated as a town in 1995: included the communities of Saint-Joseph,
Breau Creek,
Cormier Cove,
La Hêtrière,
McGinleys Corner,
Memramcook East,
Pré-d'en-Haut, Shediac Road, and a portion of the Parish of Dorchester.
