: first called Chamcook Island and then renamed Ministers Island: named for Reverend Samuel Andrews (1737-1818), native of Wallingford, Connecticut, and the first rector of the local Anglican church: renamed Covenhoven in 1890, then Van Hornes Island for Sir William Cornelius VanHorne (1843-1915), the president of Canadian Pacific Railway from 1888-1899.
