Located on W side of the Nashwaak River, 1.29 km W of Nashwaak, on the road to Taymouth: Saint Marys Parish, York County: William Francis Ganong identified the Maliseet name for the Nashwaak River as Nahvijewauk: during the 17th Century the French call the river Nachouat or Nachachouac: PO 1854-1914: in 1866 Nashwaak Village was a farming community with 60 families: in 1871 it had a population of 150: in 1898 Nashwaak Village had 1 post office, 1 store, 1 hotel, 2 carriage factories and repair shops, 1 grist mill and a population of 200.
