Located 3.18 km NW of Mount Pisgah: Studholm Parish, Kings County: first called Upper Smiths Creek: PO Upper Smiths Creek 1854-1867: renamed Newton in 1867: PO Newton 1867-1892: PO Newtown 1892-1967: a part of the settlement was called Mace District for the Mace brothers who established a mill in 1854: in 1871 Newtown had a population of 300: in 1898 Newton was a farming settlement with 1 post office, 1 store, 2 grist mills, 1 sawmill, 1 church and a population of 275.
