Description
Located 7.52 km N of Tobique Narrows, on the road to Medford: Denmark Parish, Victoria County: established in 1873 and named for Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley (1818-1896), premier of New Brunswick from 1861-1865 and 1866-1867, leading Father of Confederation, and lieutenant-governor of New Brunswick from 1873-1878 and 1885-1893: PO Tilley 1878-1939: additional settlers came to the area after the adoption of the Free Grants Act in 1879: in 1898 North Tilley was a settlement with 1 post office, 1 sawmill and a population of 75: included the community of Griffins.
