Located 3.71 km S of Beresford, on the road to Bathurst: Beresford Parish and Bathurst Parish, Gloucester County: William Francis Ganong identified the Mi'kmaq name for Peters River as Adweeganeech': probably named for Peter Hagerty an early settler: in 1866 Peters River was a farming community of approximately 6 families: in 1871 it had a population of 50: PO 1912-1920: Peters River became part of Beresford.
