Located on the Eel River, 3.93 km NNE of Scott Siding: Woodstock Parish, Carleton County: PO Porton 1892-1904 with John Porter as first postmaster: Porter and Dickinson families were some of the first families to settle in the area: in 1898 Porton was a small settlement with 1 post office and a population of 50: Porten Settlement became part of Riceville.
