York County: established in 1786: named for Prince William (1765-1837), later King WilliamIV, patron of the King's American Dragoons: some members of the King's American Dragoons settled here after 1783: included parts of Dumfries Parish until 1833, Manners Sutton Parish until 1855, and McAdam Parish until 1894.
