Located 2.27 km NE of Bains Corner: Saint Martins Parish, St. John County: Samuel Shanklin, Henry Shanklin and James Shanklin settled here about 1830: PO 1869-1943 with Samuel J. Shanklin as the first postmaster: in 1871 it had a population of 100: in 1898 Shanklin was a farming and lumbering settlement with 1 post office, 1 sawmill, 1 hall and a population of 75: also known as Patterson Settlement.
