Located 4.32 km WSW of Titusville, on the road to French Village: Hampton Parish, Kings County: James Smith settled here in 1783: PO Smith Town 1854-1929 with Ebenezer Smith as first postmaster: in 1866 Smith Town was a farming community with approximately 78 resident families, including 24 Smith families: in 1871 it had a population of 150: in 1898 Smithtown was a station on the Hampton and St. Martins Railway and a settlement with 1 post office, 2 churches and a population of 110.
