Located on N side of the Northwest Miramichi River, 13.92 km W of Nelson, on the road to Sunny Corner: Northesk Parish, Northumberland County: Ebenezer Whitney (1745-1810) settled here in 1789: PO 1872-1970: in 1898 Whitney was a farming, fishing and lumbering settlement with 1 store, 1 church and a population of 100: formerly called Whitneyville.
