Located on the Memramcook River, 2.26 km SW of Dorchester: Dorchester Parish, Westmorland Parish: name for Amos Botsford (1742-1812), a Loyalist from Connecticut who settled in the area in 1784 and a Speaker of the New Brunswick House of Assembly from 1786-1812: shipbuilding centre and port during the nineteenth century: site of original settlement for the village of Dorchester: also known as Dorchester Island.
