Located on S side of the Southwest Miramichi River, 4.25 km ENE of McNamee: Ludlow Parish, Northumberland County: settled in 1809. Carroll’s Crossing was initially known as McNamee, consisting of a school, and a post office operated by Francis McNamee, postmaster, from 1 January 1879. After the McNamee family sold the property (Lot #60) to Thomas Carroll, the community became known as Carroll’s Crossing, with the first post office of that name being established in 1890. In 1898 Carroll’s Crossing was a flag station on the Canada Eastern Railway and a farming and lumbering settlement with 1 post office and a population of 75.
