List of Vessels

Employed by the Crown,

New York,

1781.

[The following is an amalgamation of several lists of vessels, employed by various departments, principally the Commissary General's and the Barrack Master General's Departments, at New York, during 1781, in transporting horses, wood for fuel, timbers for the ship yard, baggage for the troops, etc. The lists seem to include only privately owned vessels, of various types; with few exceptions, government owned ships were omitted, as were those private ships employed for only brief periods.

Masters' names were not always given; rigging, etc., changed, so some duplication likely exists.]
