Excerpt from
New Brunswick with Notes for Emigrants / by Abraham Gesner, Esq. – 1847. – 3 pp. of textual records, pp. A, 166-167. Here the author discusses the activities of the New Brunswick and Nova Scotia Land Company in York County, N. B., noting the location of the tract, the quality of the soil, the opening of roads, and the rumour of railway construction. Gesner also comments on the growth and development of the village of Stanley, stating that the association’s once gloomy prospects have begun to improve and that “success may be contemplated”.
