Camille Lefebvre was born February 14, 1831, in Saint-Philippe-de-Laprairie, Quebec. At age 17, he became a teacher in order to pay for his college studies in Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur. In 1852, he joined the Holy Cross Fathers in Saint-Laurent. This man, known for his keen intelligence and religious devotion, arrived in New Brunswick in 1864 to establish a secondary school in Memramcook, where he was also parish priest. Thanks to him, schools, national congresses, newspapers, and a college were established - all for Acadians. His salient achievement was unquestionably the founding of Collège Saint-Joseph in Memramcook. He died in that town on January 28, 1895.
