Northumberland County
: set off from
Ludlow Parish
in 1830: named for William Black (1771-1866), a native of Aberdeen, Scotland, who emigrated to
Saint John
in 1798 and established a large timber business: he served on the Executive Council and was an administrator of the New Brunswick government from 1829-1831.
