: PO 1871 -1939: named for the owner of a sawmill: in 1898 Johnsons Mills was a farming and lumbering community with 1 post office, 1 sawmill, 1 church and a population of 100: included Grande-Anse or Grand Ance: William Francis Ganong identified the Mi'kmaq name for Grande-Anse as Walnay'ik: in 1898 Grand Ance was a farming, fishing and lumbering settlement with 1 church and a population of 150.
