Names do not agree with other 1895 group, P15-24. Standing: left to right: Captain Johnson MacKenzie, George (Smooks) Darlington. Despite being previously labeled "No 5 Hose Coy", it seems that this is actually the Number 1 Hose Company: the men's hats say "1" on them. Photograph by GA Burkhardt [George A Burkhardt], Fredericton. Inscription au verso on paper tag: "Mrs. H Boyd 181 Northumberland St".

Number 4 Hose Company, Fredericton Fire Department
Item - 1895

According a pencil inscription au verso: Standing: left to right: Joe McMinniman (Tanker), Art Blackner [Art Blackman?] Seated, left to right: Lud McSorley, Johnston McKenzie, George Darlington [aka Smooks Darlington]. There is an au verso pencil inscription showing all these names, but some are difficult to make out and it is therefore worth looking at the original.

Item - 1897

At the foot of George Street or University Avenue, then called Sunbury Street, decorated for Queen Victoria’s Jubilee, 1897. In window: L. Fred Clark, R.J. Rogers, boy at extreme left, Talmage Haining, girl on rig seat. Helen Clark (Mrs. Robert McClellan). Firemen: left to right: G. Clark, W. Allen, J. Rogers, Fred Dibb, J. Carton, J. Gough.

Inscription au verso reads "Now stands next to Valery Food, University Ave Mr. Laurence". The building was evidently located next to what was once the Valery or Valley Food store on university avenue, later a Scholten’s on University Avenue. More specifically, this fire station is now (as of 2021) a private residence located at 294 University Avenue.

Another au verso inscription: "On loan to Chief Doherty Fton Fire Deprt Property of James E Rodgers 375]?] St John Street Fredericton NB".

Another Hose Station near Legion, and later moved to Smythe across from Aberdeen.
