Administrative History Biographical Sketch

These negatives were donated by Allen W. Lutes of Moncton (b. 15 Oct 1908 Dawson Settlement, NB, d 9 Oct 1984) to PANB in the summer of 1972. Little is known of Lutes' relationship with these negatives other than it seems likely he received them via a family member and that he wished "them to be of some value to our local people".

Custodial History

According to Lutes, at the time of his correspondence with PANB in December 1971, he received the negatives "some years ago...They were taken by an American photographer and the glass plates are still in their original boxes".

Lutes noted in 1971 that "after receiving them I interleaved them with sheets of paper to prevent scratching and also made prints of a few".
