PANB received these from Quaco Historical society in St. Martins, NB. It is noted in accession that the negatives were "done by Skillen, of St. Martins," but no record can be found of an "Eccles," for whom the collection is named. Perhaps the photographer or original owner of the negatives.

Donated to Quaco Historical Society, St. Martin's NB. Negatives were then donated to PANB and prints were loaned for copying.

Scope and Content

Black and white negatives of ships, including steamboats, sloops, sailboats, tugboats, and scows, as well as the shipyard in Saint John. Named ships include the steamboats Springfield, Olivet, Hamstead, Victoria, Hope and David Weston, and the sloop Marjorie. Other photos include a mine or quarry, a windmill operation, a poster for a horse on display, and King Street in Saint John.
