Scope and Content
Now owned by J. Leonard O’Brien of Nelson-Miramichi, it has been the site of several business establishments since Davidson’s time. Beaubears Island got its name from Sieur de Boishebert who led some Acadians north to Quebec at the time of the Expulsion. Many died of hunger and disease and are buried at “The Enclosure” nearby.
