VAUGHAN, HENRY GEORGE (1879-1947)

VAUGHAN, HENRY GEORGE, dentist; b. Saint John, 16 Mar 1879, s/o Thomas Allan Vaughan and Emma H. Springate; m. 1912, Prudence Nellie Goggin, d/o Joseph Reed Goggin and Mary Ann Elizabeth Searle; d. Chatham, 10 Mar 1947.

Henry G. Vaughan received some of his earlier education in Boston and New York and studied dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania (DDS 1899). In November 1899 he opened a practice in Chatham, while residing with his aunt Mary E. Springate and her husband, David G. Smith. He later married in Chatham and pursued a professional career there until his retirement in 1946. In 1941 he was elected president of the New Brunswick Dental Society.

Vaughan was appointed chairman of the Board of Health for Chatham in 1916. In 1919 he was named to the new County Health Board. He was a vestryman of St Paul's Anglican Church in 1907 and was later a warden. He and his wife, Prudence N. Goggin, had a son and a daughter.
