DALTON, M. BEATRICE (BECKWITH) (1883-1970)

DALTON, M. BEATRICE (BECKWITH), musician; b. Chatham, 24 Jul 1883, d/o William Beckwith and Grace Grennan; m. 1919, Frederick Vincent Dalton, s/o John Dalton and Mary Elizabeth Griffin, of Newcastle; d. Chatham, 10 Mar 1970.

Mary Beatrice Dalton was an accomplished musician who played both the piano and cello and was well-known in musical circles on the Miramichi. She was also a correspondent for the Moncton Daily Times. In the voluntary sphere she was a district commissioner of the Girl Guides and an executive member of the Catholic Women's League. She was predeceased by her sister Agnes (Sister Beckwith), who was the music teacher for many years at St Michael's Academy. Her only named survivor was her husband.
