ELLIOTT, GEORGE AMBROSE DANIEL (1893-1969)

ELLIOTT, GEORGE AMBROSE DANIEL, United Church minister, Tabusintac and Burnt Church, 1941-51; b. Escuminac, Que., 6 Oct 1893, s/o John Elliott and Eliza Ann Gaudin; m. 1922, Pearl Saunders, of Winsloe, P.E.I.; d. Gunningsville, N.B., 10 Feb 1969.

George ("G. A. D.") Elliott was trained for the ministry at Mount Allison University and ordained in 1922. He served as a Methodist and United Church minister at Buctouche, N.B., for two terms of eighteen years in all and in several pulpits in Prince Edward Island. He was called to Tabusintac in 1941, as successor to the Rev. A. Hatfield Dyment. When he left ten years later he went to New Mills, N.B. He subsequently served in both Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. He retired in 1963, at age seventy. He was survived in 1969 by his wife, Pearl Saunders, and a son.
