FITZGERALD, THOMAS J., Catholic parish priest, Renous, 1884-87; b. Glenelg parish, 23 Jan 1856 (bap. 2 Apr 1856), s/o Alexander Fitzgerald and Mary Curran; ordained 1881; d. Chatham, 27 Jan 1913.
Thomas J. Fitzgerald studied at St Michael's male academy in Chatham and was trained for the priesthood at the Grand Seminary in Montreal. He served on the diocesan staff at Chatham from 1881 until he was appointed parish priest at Renous in 1884. He was transferred to Pokemouche in 1887 and was parish priest there for twenty years. From 1907 onward he was the priest at Jacquet River. His death in 1913, at age fifty-seven, occurred at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Chatham.
