LOGGIE, ROBERT (1842-1918)

LOGGIE, ROBERT, lumber operations manager; b. Tabusintac, 28 Jun 1842, s/o Robert Loggie and Ann Blake; m. 1866, Grace Hierlihy, d/o Philip Hierlihy and Jane Lewis, of Tabusintac; d. 28 May 1918.

Robert Loggie, an employee of J. B. Snowball & Co. for upwards of forty years, was enumerated as a lumber scaler in Chatham in the census of 1901. As he reported an annual income of $1,000 at that time, his duties may have been greater than those of other company scalers. In his later years he was the manager of Snowball's branch at Tracadie.

Loggie was survived in 1918 by his wife, Grace Hierlihy, and eight children, including William J. Loggie, a lawyer in Chatham and later in Alberta; Edward A. Logie, a physician in Saint John; Fred C. Loggie, an army officer in World War I and later a physician in Vancouver; and H. Burton Loggie, a teacher, musician, and World War I army officer who was later a physician in New York.
