MACKINNON, WILLIAM ROBERT (1897-1956)

MACKINNON, WILLIAM ROBERT, lumberman and business manager; b. Shannonvale (Dundee), Restigouche Co., N.B., 24 Feb 1897, s/o William MacKinnon and Margaret Wright; m. 1923, Violet E. Russell, d/o Ernest M. Russell and Grace Saunders Wilson, of Doaktown; d. there, 15 Jan 1956.

William R. MacKinnon was branch manager for the Lounsbury Co. at Doaktown for many years and a director of that firm. He also conducted a lumber and pulpwood business in his own right.

MacKinnon was survived in 1956 by his wife, Violet E. Russell, two daughters, and a son. His son, William Russell MacKinnon, was one of the founders of the Miramichi Salmon Museum at Doaktown and the father of William Robertson MacKinnon, who wrote the history of the Upper Southwest Miramichi entitled Over the Portage (1984).
