MCRORY, HENRY S. (1872-1939)

MCRORY, HENRY S., Catholic missionary, Boiestown, c1905-10; b. Charlottetown, 15 Dec 1872, s/o Francis McRory and Jane McCarey; ordained 1899; d. 1939.

Henry McRory was educated at St Dunstan's College (1891-96) and trained for the priesthood in Baltimore, Md. He was ordained at Charlottetown in 1899 for the diocese of Chatham and was on Bishop James Rogers's staff in 1900. From 1905, at least, until 1909 or 1910 he was located at Boiestown, where he would appear to have been the first resident priest. He left the Chatham diocese in 1910. In 1929 he was reported to be a priest in the American midwest. He would have been sixty-six in 1939, which is the year of death noted for him in a document in the archives of the Charlottetown diocese.
