BERTRAM, FREDERICK THOMAS (1883-1972)

BERTRAM, FREDERICK THOMAS, Methodist minister, Newcastle circuit, 1918-20; b. P.E.I., 21 Sep 1883, s/o Thomas Bertram and Christina Beaton; m. Vera L. Lander; d. Weymouth, Mass., May 1972.

Frederick T. Bertram entered the Methodist ministry on trial in 1908 and served one-year terms at Hartland and Canterbury. He later attended Mount Allison University for two years and was ordained in 1913. He served briefly at Oromocto, Westfield, and Campbellton before being appointed to Newcastle in 1918. He left in 1920 to continue his studies. He later had a church in Saint John but resigned in 1926. In 1930, he was ministering in Northfield, Vermont. He was based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, in the 1930s and '40s. He and his wife, Vera Lander, are not known to have had any children.
