SAVOIE, HIDULPHE ADOLPHE, MLA; b. St Louis de Kent, N.B., 26 Jun 1873, s/o Michel Savoie and Julie Daigle; m. 1917, Leonie Boucher, of Richibucto Village; d. Shediac, 15 Nov 1961.
Hidulphe A. Savoie, a general merchant at Rogersville, played a part in the Miramichi community as a county councillor for approximately twelve years, and as one of the four Northumberland County representatives in the Legislative Assembly for eighteen years. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Liberal party in the election of 1925 but won a seat in 1930 and was re-elected in 1935, 1939, and 1944. He sat until 1948 and then retired from politics. He was living in a retirement home in Shediac at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife, Leonie Boucher, and an adopted daughter.
