HARRISON, THOMAS HARRY (1860-1937)

HARRISON, THOMAS HARRY, Methodist minister, Derby circuit, 1909-12; b. Sheffield, N.B., 18 Oct 1860, s/o Moses C. Harrison and Lavinia C. Barker; m. 1st, 1895, Eleanor Evans, a native of Douglas, N.B., and 2nd, 1916, Julia M. Taylor, of Sheffield; d. Saint John, 4 Jul 1937.

T. Harry Harrison worked for some time on his father's farm before attending Mount Allison University (BA 1893) as preparation for entering the Methodist ministry. Ordained in 1895, he devoted his entire career to pastorates in rural New Brunswick. He was at Debec before being assigned to the Derby circuit in 1909, and when he left three years later he went to Stanley. He retired in Saint John in 1929.

Harrison was "wholehearted" about his work and had "outstanding musical gifts." At his death in 1937 he was survived by his second wife, Julia M. Taylor, one daughter from his marriage to her, and three sons and a daughter from his first marriage.
