JORDAN, NEIL MORRISON (1894-1967)

JORDAN, NEIL MORRISON, military officer and fish hatchery superintendent; b. North Esk Boom, 2 Nov 1894, s/o Nathaniel Jordan, a native of Presque Isle, Me, and Annie Morrison, of North Esk parish; m. Robina H. Hardie, of Edinburgh, Scotland; d. Truro, N.S., 12 Jun 1967.

N. Morrison Jordan served overseas in World War I with the 25th Battalion of the Nova Scotia Regiment. Commissioned in the field, he was cited for bravery and awarded the DCM and Bar, as well as the Military Cross. In World War II he was a member of the Veterans' Guard of Canada.

In 1920 Jordan took a federal government job at the Miramichi Fish Hatchery at South Esk. For many years prior to the retirement of Frank S. Burgess he was assistant superintendent of the hatchery. He was made acting superintendent in 1948 and was confirmed in the position the following year. He and his family occupied the residence provided for the superintendent at the hatchery until a few years before his death, when they moved to Newcastle. Both he and his wife, Robina H. Hardie, died in 1967. They left two daughters.
