Résumé Parish of Hillsborough, Westmorland County, Yeoman. Will dated 13 April 1819, proved 23 April 1821. Sons John STEVES and Isaac STEVES jointly that "Alotment or Dividend of Land which I claim and hold with my Brothers by Grant" and each of them one twelfth part of the money left after deducting £4 and all accounts settled. To my three sons Thomas STEVES, Joel STEVES and Stephen STEVES the farm where I now dwell, half the money left and all my household furniture. Sons Michael and Henry two-thirds of the lake marsh with two house lots, son Abraham [land] and each one twelfth part of the money left. Nephew John DUFFY the marsh left below the large creek, one cow and a pair of steers provided he should live in the family till he becomes age 21. Daughter Catharine one-third of the Lake Marsh, one acre of woodland in the rear of the lot adjoining her husband's field and £2. Daughter Rachel £2 and my wife Margaret after her decease doth order that the whole of her clothing shall be equally divided between the two daughters. Son David STEVES appointed to settle, collect and pay all my just debts and receive, after deducting £4, one twelfth part of money left. Wife Margaret to keep in her possession during her life the whole of my property. Son Henry to assist David in settling and collecting my unsettled accounts. Witnesses: George STEVES, Lewis STEVES, Henry STEVES. Will signed by John STEVES (who signed as "[Johann STIVES") and Margaret STEVES.
