Abstract City of Saint John, St. John County, Merchant. Will dated 4 December 1823, proved 14 October 1825. Son William JARVIS Lot 6 and store on the south side of the Market slip wherein we are now carrying on business under the firm of Munson and William JARVIS. Wife Mary JARVIS dwelling house in Prince William Street, the household furniture and my pew in Trinity Church, together with an annuity of £100 in satisfaction of all dower. Daughter Mary HAZEN, widow of Major Robert HAZEN, £1,000 and in the event of her death before mine, the said sum to her son Robert F. HAZEN. My sister Polly DIBBLEE, widow of Fyler DIBBLEE, £10 for mourning. My brother John JARVIS £10 for mourning. My sister Hannah INGERSOLL, residing in the State of New York, £10 for mourning. My brother Samuel JARVIS of Stamford, Connecticut, £10 for mourning. My brother Seymour JARVIS, likewise residing in Connecticut, £50. Each and every of my grandchildren living at the time of my decease £25 at age 21. I request my wife give to my daughter Mary HAZEN the gold watch chain and seals which I imported for my said wife when she has no further use for it. My gold watch and seal be given to my grandson Munson JARVIS, son of Edward J. JARVIS, at age 21. Son William JARVIS to continue carrying on the business and after six months my share of the partnership to my executors for the uses of this my will. Son Edward J. JARVIS, grandson Robert F. HAZEN, friends William SCOVIL and Robert PARKER Esquires of Saint John executors. Executors empowered to sell all real and personal estate, including dwelling after wife's death, and divide the residue of the real and personal estate into four shares, paying one share each to my daughter Mary HAZEN, my son Ralph M. JARVIS, my son William JARVIS and my son Edward J. JARVIS. Witnesses: Alexander LAWRENCE, James STEWART, John M. ROBINSON. CODICIL dated 25 September 1825 dwelling house and other buildings and considerable furniture destroyed by a fire in the City, now building a brick building where my dwelling stood. Wife Mary JARVIS to have the use of the brick house for life and an annuity of £80 instead of £100. Bequest to daughter Mary HAZEN reduced to £800. Bequests to sister Hannah INGERSOLL and brother Samuel JARVIS cancelled. Son Edward J. JARVIS now residing in the Island of Malta, to prevent any delays in settling my affairs, any three of my said executors to have full power and authority. Witnesses: William MERRITT, John M. ROBINSON, Thomas WALLACE.
