Abstract Parish of Hillsborough, Westmorland County. Will dated 24 January 1827, proved 18 July 1834. Wife Elizabeth MITTEN real and personal estate for life with power to dispose of the household utensils and furniture. At wife's death, land, stock and farming utensils to step-son Ralph JOHNSON "known by the name of Ralph Johnson MITTEN" of Hillsborough for life, and at his death the land to his son Ralph JOHNSON "als(sic) Ralph Johnson MITTEN his Heirs and assigns forever." Elizabeth, eldest daughter of my step-son Ralph JOHNSON, £140 and the clock and clock case. To John, the only son of the Said Elizabeth, £50 to be expended upon his education. Brother Robert MITTEN 5 shillings. Nephews William MITTEN, Richard MITTEN, Robert MITTEN and James MITTEN each 5 shillings. Step-son Ralph JOHNSON "known by the name of Ralph Johnson MITTEN" sole executor. Witnesses: James M. KELLY, Jerusha KELLY, William WILEY. Solomon TRITES, Robert HOPPER and Lewis STEEVES directed to appraise the estate.
