Abstract City of Saint John, St. John County, Blacksmith. "About to depart for the Kingdom of Great Britain." Will dated 9 August 1813, proved 1 July 1818. Wife Mary STENING all real estate for life, and at her decease to my children by my said wife, if any such there be. In case of decease of wife without issue, one-half to my sisters Sarah GRIST and Grace CAPROSS and my brothers John STENING and Henry STENING, all of the County of Sussex in the Kingdom of Great Britain. The other half to Ann SPRAG, wife of Caleb SPRAG, Sarah HAY, widow of John HAY, Elisabeth HARDING, George HARDING, William HARDING and Thomas HARDING, all the children of William HARDING of the City of Saint John, shoemaker, my father-in-law. Wife Mary STENING, Thomas HARDING and Henry STENING executors. Witnesses: Thomas SANCTON, Gabriel F. MOTT, William Tyng PETERS. On 12 January 1822 a citation was issued to the next of kin of William STENING stating that probate was allegedly granted in error and to show cause why such probate should not be revoked in favour of a certain will purporting to be the last will and testament bearing date 24 September 1817.
