Wife Eleanor use of all personal estate for life, at her death to be divided among sons William and James and daughters Mary and Ellen at the discretion of their mother, my said wife. A silver tankard marked L.S.D. to son James at age 21. Daughters Mary and Ellen one mahogany chest of drawers or secretary and one bed and bedstead each when age 18. Son Thomas, born of my first wife, 5 shillings. Wife Eleanor to have income from real estate for the support of the four children until they come of age. Property to be divided among children. CODICIL dated 25 January 1820 directs lots in Carleton to eldest son James, Lots 916 and 917 on Mechlenburgh Street to son William.
