The index allows searching for either a married or maiden name. In the case of the death of Georgia MacKenzie, the index provides access via the maiden name Mitchell, as well as the married surname, MacKenzie.
Each entry can contain one or more dates. The most common are the date of death and the date of the issue of newspaper containing the entry. Other dates that may appear are the date of a burial and the date of a subsequent entry on the same topic. The only date that appears in full is the date the paper was published. This date is in the form - month, day, year. Other dates in an entry are only month and day, unless a subsequent entry appears in a different year.
Paper copies of the index are held at the Saint John and Sussex libraries.
Unfortunately there are gaps in the extant issues of the Kings County Record on microfilm. This includes a couple of single issues and three extended stretches:
August 7, to September 11, 1903
August 30, to September 20, 1907
September 20, 1912 to October 10, 1913
If anyone knows of the existence of these issues please contact the Provincial Archives.
