Tobique River (Victoria Co.) May 6 - Death has called away one of the pioneer settlers pf this part of the Tobique River. George TRAFTON, whose sufferings from la grippe and lung truble terminated fatally Wednesday May 2nd about a quarter of 2 o'clock, was born at St. John, 14th Feb. 1837. When quite young he moved to Richmond (Carleton Co.) and came here in 1861. Here in 1865 he married Mary DAY daughter of Thomas DAY, another of our old residents. Mrs. Trafton and seven children survive him, of whom three daughters and two sons are at home, one daughter, Mrs. Elwood GIBERSON at Sisson Ridge and another, Mrs. George SCRIBNER at Eustase, Franklin Co., Me. The father of the deceased is still living in Minnesota with a daughter, Mrs. George JENKINS. Another sister of the deceased, Mrs. Caroline CARMAN lives at Richmond (Carleton Co.) and an only brother, in Dakota. His mother, Julia Ann MacKINTOSH was of a Scotch family. The funeral took place from the house Friday 4th inst. 2 p.m., Brethern Chapman, Sadler and Flanders performing services at the house and grave. Mr. Trafton was for a number of years a professor of religion, inclining to the Methodist form of doctrine and for several years a member of the Board of School Trustees.
