Elias WHITE is the son of William WHITE who was born in Nashwaak Valley (York Co.) in 1791. The son still occupied part of the property on which his father settled at the age of 30 years. The mother of Councillor White was born in 1801 and came to the Nashwaak in 1820. There was no Marysville in those days. There were no roads. In fact, William White did his trading by means of canoes. Elias White is the youngest of nine children, seven sons and two daughters. He has always remained on the homestead, reserving 50 acres of land, another 50 having been sold to Mr. Gibson. His father's house was located where the present brick hotel beside the cotton mill stands. Councillor White owns two houses besides his own residence and sold the site of the others near at hand and quite a little village is now grouped there. For the past 25 years he has been engaged in lumbering, with some attention also to farming. He was two years in (Marysville) town council, resigned and remained out for one year, and is now again a member.
