James H. STOCKTON who died at Smith's Creek, Studholm (Kings Co.) on the 10th, in the 83rd year of his age, was the third s/o Lt. And. H. STOCKTON who was born at Princeton, New Jersey, July 3rd, 1760 and was one of the Loyalists who came to this country in the year 1783. He married Hannah LESTER of New York on the 4th of April 1784 in the City of St. John, then called Parrtown. The Hon. George LEONARD performed the ceremony, which was the first marriage which took place in St. John after the landing of the Loyalists. Mrs. STOCKTON died in 1793 at the early age of 25 years, leaving five children, four sons and one daughter, all of whom lived to an advanced age, and are as follows: Gilbert L. STOCKTON, died at 84; Charles W. STOCKTON, 83; James H. STOCKTON, 83; William J. STOCKTON, 80; Hannah Gertrude STOCKTON, 78; making in all 408 years at the time of their death. It is worthy of note that Hannah G., the youngest of the family, was 75 years of age at the time the first death took place, and was married to Christopher LOCKHART, Esq. in 1822, who is still living and enjoying good health, and is now 75 years of age. The family have connections in Ontario. The newspapers of that province will notice these facts.
