Capt. GUILFORD of steamer "George Shattuck" which arrived yesterday morn. at 2 o'clock reports: A man, Joseph LANDRY, A.B., who had been put ashore to make fast one of the lines, in attempting to get up over the bow by a rope missed his footing and fell in the water. Ropes were immediately thrown to him but he appeared to lose presence of mind and was perhaps to benumbed to grasp any of them. He did not remain on the surface of the water a minute and after he sank did not rise again. The body was recovered about two hours after when it was conveyed to the court house where an inquest will be held. Joseph Landry was a native of Arichat, C.B. and leaves a wife and three children. - 'Halifax Chronicle'
