To the Warden and Council of the Municipality of the County of Carleton - We the undersigned Residents, Freeholders, Traders and Mechanics in the Parishes of Wilmot, Wicklow, Simonds, Peel and Kent ... feel desirous to facilitate the present contemplated Railway from Woodstock to Riviere du Loup .... And therefore pray your Honorable Body to take stock in said Railway if built by the valley of the Saint John River, and according to charter, to the amount of $ 100,000, to be made taxable on the property of the County, and to sanction a memorial to Governemnt to aid and assist by grants of wild lands, the Company who will build said Railroad and Bridges.
