On Saturday afternoon the funeral of late Wm MacKAY took place from his residence Horsfield St. (St. John). The procession which was formed at the house and followed the remains to the grave in the Rural Cemetery was a lengthy one. The members of St. Andrew's Society, preceded the hearse. The pall bearers were Beverly ROBINSON, John WISHART, James MacFARLANE, Robert SHERATON, Peter CHISHOLM, James McMILLAN. The services at the house and grave were conducted by Rev. Dr. Waters. The remains were enclosed in a handsome walnut coffin manufactured by M.N. POWER who, with his son, had charge of the arrangements connected with the funeral. (Rural Cemetery is today known as Fernhill Cemetery, Westmorland Road, Saint John)
