d. At his son's residence, 50 Exmouth St., St. John, Dec. 31, 1893, Thomas HICKS, age 83 years, for many years a deacon of Brussels St. Church. Brother Hicks was born at Wellington, Somersetshire, England Nov. 7th, 1810 and removed with his parents to New Brunswick May 1820. The family resided here for a few years and then removed to Kings Co. where he lived till December 1851, with the exception of four years spent in Ontario, when he removed to this city and resided here until the time of his death. He married Oct. 14th, 1883 at Passakeag, Sarah Ann SMITH, who died April 12th, 1881. Our Brother was baptized 25th March 1855 by Father Robinson and was received into the membership of the Brussels St. Church when the church was divided and some of the members formed Zion church under the late Rev. William P. Everett. Bro. Hicks was one of their number, but returned to the Brussels St. Church when Zion Church became extinct. He leaves two sons surviving, John HICKS, a resident of this city and William HICKS, now a resident of Paris, Ontario. Eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him.
