Waterloo Veteran - William NORRIS, a native of the North of Ireland died on 24th ult. in Town of Digby, N.S. and was buried on Wednesday. At the age of 25 he was a private soldier in the Eniskillen Dragoons and was with his well known regiment in the great battle which in 1815 hurried BONAPARTE from his throne and decided the fate of Europe. In one of the fierce encounters between the Eniskilliners and the French Cavalry, a French soldier discharged his pistol at Norris face and broke the bridge of his nose, leaving a scar and honorable deformity which he carried to his dying day. This brave old soldier deserved a better fate than to be annually sold in his declining years to the lowest bidder. We earnestly hope that this barbarous practice may soon give place to a better system. - 'Digby Courier'
