George KING, Esq. has been so long and extensively connected with the shipbuilding interests of this city, that for past years his name has been familiar as a household word. He was born in Lower Cove (St. John) about the year 1798/9. He first commenced his business career as a stevedore, a calling by which he continued to follow till the year 1847, when he engaged in shipbuilding. In the Spring last, the ailment which has terminated in his death first began to afflict him. During the summer he grew rapidly worse. As the fall began to approach, he resolved on trying the experiment of a trip to the old country to see the what would be the effect of a change of air. Accompanied by his son Frederick KING, he sailed from St. John on board the ship "Tidal Wave". Not feeling in any way benefited by it, he again resolved to return home and sailed from Liverpool 9th inst. He reached Halifax, N.S. Monday last where he sank rapidly till yesterday morn. at one o'clock when he expired. The disease was dropsy of the heart.
