Centrreville (Carleton Co.) Jan. 9 - Word reached this village about noon today that an aged and respected lady had passed from earth to paradise last eve. at her residence Greenfield, viz. Mrs. Geo. RITCHIE, nee Margaret HOLMES, about 67 years of age, leaving four sons and four daughters, one of the sons being in Minneapolis. About 47 years ago she married Geo. Ritchie, by whom she had nine sons, the eldest having died in infancy. About 20 years ago her husband died, leaving her in charge of a large family, who were well cared for and assisted by every means in her power. In due time several of her children married and went to homes of their own, not very far though, from the homestead. The youngest, who was married about five months ago, moving the farthest away, up into Victoria Co. Yesterday two of her sons visited Centreville to obtain the services of a magistrate. Mr. Scholey intended going out to Greenfield tomorrow to make her will, but ar six last eve., the summons came for her to go 'up higher'. She died a Christian, in full connection with the Church of England, the church of her adoption.
