We regret to learn that James E. TRITES, formerly of the Railway office at St. John Station was drowned on July 30th in the steamer "Brother Jonathan" between San Francisco and Vancouver Island. Only 14 out of 300 passengers were saved. Young TRITE's body was washed ashore and was interred at Crescent City. The deceased was the eldest s/o John S. TRITES, Esq., Cashier of Westmorland Bank.
